ZIFA and the Sports Recreation Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which defines the relationship between the two entities and sets up opportunities for collaboration in the running of football in Zimbabwe.
The MoU, which has FIFA’s blessings, outlines the two organisations’ duties and responsibilities to avoid the recurrence of clashes that resulted in the suspension of Zimbabwe from international football two years ago.
This was part of FIFA’s recommendations when Zimbabwe’s suspension from international football was lifted last year.

The signing ceremony was held in Harare on Friday, with high-ranking officials from FIFA and the ZIFA Normalisation Committee in attendance, including SRC chairman Gerald Mlotshwa and his ZIFA Normalisation Committee counterpart Lincoln Mutasa.
TheMoU addresses good governance, measures to eliminate sexual harassment from domestic football and lobbying for funds for national teams.
It recognises ZIFA’s autonomy and the football association’s duty to respect the country’s laws.
“This MoU records the framework for the development of an effective, efficient, and transparent working relationship among the parties.
“The context of this MoU is anchored on establishing a relationship for collaboration among the parties, which will define the responsibilities and objectives of each party.
“This MoU shall subsist for an indefinite period. It may be reviewed, amended, or terminated at any time upon agreement of both parties (in line with the provided clauses),” reads part of theMoU.
