A 17-YEAR-OLD girl from Zhombe who was allegedly accused of having stolen US$50 decided to end her life by ingesting poison.
A neighbour arrived at the deceased’s home and accused the minor of having stolen her money. However, it is alleged the girl vehemently denied ever stealing the money.
A family member who requested not to be named said the minor sobbed and later disappeared. Her mother later looked for her as it was getting dark and was shocked to find her lying behind their homestead.
“She was wriggling on the ground producing froth from her mouth. Beside her, there was an empty bottle of poison. She later died,” said the family member.
The incident was reported to the police. Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
In another incident, a woman who was accused by her husband of two-timing him committed suicide last Tuesday and left a note detailing why she decided to take her life.
The note partly read: “After my husband saw a stray love message on my phone he started to brand me a prostitute and he even had the guts to call me a prostitute in the presence of my children. He usually did that when he was drunk. I tried to engage his sister to talk to him but he could not change.”
