POLICE yesterday recorded a fatal accident along the Harare-Bulawayo highway involving a haulage truck and Honda CRV vehicle, where two people died.
Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the accident.
“ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 317 km peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road, where two people died,” he said.
“A haulage truck was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda CRV vehicle with one passenger on board.
“The bodies of the victims were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.”
Police also reported a fatal road traffic accident that occurred along Mutare Road, near Mabvuku turn–off, where three people died while two others were injured.
“A Nissan X- trail vehicle with five people on board veered off the road, rolled several times and landed on its wheels,” Ass-Comm Nyathi said.
“The driver and two passengers died on the spot and their bodies were taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for post-mortem while the two injured passengers are admitted at the same hospital.”
Meanwhile, police in Harare are investigating a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident in which an unknown motorist hit a yet-to-be identified person yesterday morning along Seke Road, near Manyame Bridge, in Chitungwiza.
“The victim died on the spot and was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem. Anyone with information to contact any nearest Police Station,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
