adminZibagwe Rural District Council has completed the construction of two foot bridges, in Sebakwe resettlement area, bringing relief to communities, which have been failing to access local schools and clinics whenever Sebakwe River was flooded.
Zibagwe RDC chief executive Mr Farayi Machaya said the foot bridges were part of projects that local authorities were tasked to do under President Mnangagwa’s 100-day programme.
He said pupils attending Mpande Secondary and Hurudza Primary were at times forced to miss school for weeks when the river was flooded.
“There were instances when even teachers on the other side would use the issue of the river as an excuse not to report for duty for weeks even when the water was below knee level,” he said.
Mr Machaya said the foot bridges were built using part of the $500 000 that they received from Zimbabwe National Road Administration. — Herald Reporter.
