adminTwo people were killed after violence broke out at the end of a Moroccan football league match in the city of Casablanca on Saturday.
According to a statement from the country’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), 54 people were left with injuries following the riot that took place after the match between Raja Casablanca and Chabab Rif Al Hoceima.
“Two people died upon their arrival at the hospital, one was injured by a sharp object, while the other showed no apparent signs of violence, and 54 others were wounded and evacuated to Moulay Youssef hospital to receive the necessary care,” the statement said.
Reports in Morocco say that trouble began after the match when rival gangs of Raja Casablanca turned on themselves by throwing flares and destroying properties within the Stade Mohamed V where the match took place. Eleven cars parked in the streets of Casablanca were also reported to have been destroyed by the stone-throwing fans.
Moroccan security operatives, however, made at least 41 arrests in connection to the violence on Saturday. — Supersport.
