POLICE in Bulawayo are investigating two separate murder cases in which two men were killed in stabbing incidents on Tuesday.
In the first incident, a 42-year-old man from Matshobane, Brighton Ndlovu, was found dead near the Rio turn-off in Matshobane at about 9am.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said Ndlovu’s 33-year-old brother received information that a dead body had been found at the spot and went to investigate.
“He proceeded there and discovered that the body was of his brother Brighton Ndlovu, a male adult aged 42 of Matshobane, Bulawayo,” said Insp Msebele.
She said the deceased had a deep cut on his neck, while a blood-stained silver kitchen knife was found on his lap.
In the second incident, a 20-year-old man, Zebron Ndlovu of Windmill, Umguza, was stabbed in the left thigh following a misunderstanding over who should be served first at a local tuckshop.
Insp Msebele said the incident occurred at about 7pm when Ndlovu came home running and calling for help.
“He had a stab wound on the left thigh and was bleeding. The now deceased appeared to have lost a lot of blood,” she said.
Police established that Ndlovu had a misunderstanding with Timothy Juba of Mbazhe Village in Nkayi over who was going to be served first at their local tuckshop.
Juba allegedly stabbed Ndlovu on the left thigh with an unknown sharp object.
An ambulance was called and Ndlovu was taken to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical attention, but his condition worsened and he later died.
A police report was made.
Insp Msebele urged members of the public to resolve disputes amicably and shun violence.
“We appeal to the members of the public to solve their differences amicably and shun all forms of violence to avoid loss of lives,” she said.
She also appealed to anyone with information that could assist with the investigations to report at any nearest police station.
