TWO children, aged two and three, who were kidnapped by a thief who had stolen their father’s car, were later dumped at the Marimba Shopping Centre in Belvedere.

Leon Mushayachunu, 30, of Tynwald South, left his two children in his Toyota Passo, when he went to relieve himself.

He left the keys on the ignition.

When he returned, he found both his vehicle, and the children, missing.

The kids were later found dumped at the Marimba Shopping Centre.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case, urging motorists to avoid leaving children in parked cars with keys on the ignition.

“Police are investigating a kidnapping and car theft case where minor children were later found dumped in Belvedere,” said Insp Chakanza.

“We strongly urge motorists to consider the life of children by ensuring they don’t leave them in parked vehicles.

“Let us value our children as well as safeguard our assets.”
