A PALTRY two points separate Highlanders and Dynamos ahead of this afternoon’s much-anticipated Battle of Zimbabwe at Barbourfields Stadium.
Whicever team wins goes above the other on the table. Bosso will widen the gap with a win while Dynamos will leapfrog the Black and white with a victory.
This ups the stakes in probably the most important match in Zimbabwean football history as the fading giants find themselves, uncharacteristically, both fighting relegation.
Bosso sit on 35 points while their old foes, DeMbare, trail closely behind on 33. From 30 outings, the Bulawayo giants have posted seven wins, 14 draws, and nine defeats — scoring 25 goals and conceding 24, giving them a slender +1 goal difference.
On the other hand, Kelvin Kaindu’s Glamour Boys have also collected seven wins, but with 12 draws and 11 losses.
They’ve managed just 17 goals while letting in 24, leaving them with a disappointing -7 goal difference.
Both sides have shown flashes of brilliance this season, but inconsistency has been their biggest enemy. For Bosso, victory would widen the gap and restore belief among their loyal fans, while DeMbare know that three points in the City of Kings would flip the table and reignite their survival push.
