Two siblings killed, driver injured in Gwanda road crash

TWO siblings from Gwanda District died after they were run over by a vehicle, while the driver sustained injuries.
Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Chiratidzo Dube, confirmed the incident, which occurred at the 101 km peg along Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road, where two people were killed and one injured.

The deceased have been identified as Talent Ndlovu (24) from Sizanani Village and Methembekile Zitha (17) also from Sizanani Village.

“On 8 September 2025, at around 9AM, Caetano Ncube was driving a white Toyota Hilux vehicle, due South along the Bulawayo –Beitbridge road with no passenger on board. Upon reaching the 101 km peg along the said road, the first party lost control of their vehicle and veered off the road to the left, hitting two pedestrians who were standing beside the road before colliding with a tree and landing on its roof, facing east.

“As a result of the accident, both pedestrians died on the spot and they were taken to Gwanda Provincial Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem. The driver sustained a painful right shoulder and he was taken to Gwanda Provincial Hospital,” she said.

Insp Dube said the matter was reported to Gwanda Traffic, the scene was attended to and investigations are in progress.
