Two stock thieves arrested in Beitbridge

Police in Beitbridge have arrested two suspected stock thieves after they attempted to smuggle 22 goats and eight sheep through an illegal entry point.

Obert Koki (63) and Bhozani Munyayi were arrested by police officers who were deployed at an illegal crossing point at Lamidzi, Beitbridge, under an ongoing operation code-named “No to cross border crimes

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The suspects were travelling in a Land Rover Defender, registration number ACS 1521, and were found carrying 22 goats and eight sheep which they intended to smuggle out of the country.

“They failed to produce police clearance and a veterinary permit for the transportation and ownership of the stock.”
