POLICE are investigating a case involving two unknown men who are being sought in connection with a robbery of US$45 000 that occurred in Habane township, Esigodini, Matabeleland South Province.

According to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the incident happened on 5 October 2024, at around 18:30 hours when two unknown suspects armed with two pistols pounced on a house and stole US$45 000.

During the incident, it is alleged that one occupant was shot in the chest and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Bulawayo.

The armed robbery came a day after another one in Bulawayo where armed robbers got away with US$4 million during a heist outside EcoBank in Bulawayo on Thursday afternoon last week.

Meanwhile, eight unknown suspects are also being sought in connection with a robbery of US$23 175 at a company in Harare.

The suspects, armed with unidentified pistols and iron bars, attacked a security guard who was on duty at the company and also stole five firearms, seven pepper sprays, and seven handcuffs.

Comm Nyathi urged anyone with information to report to the nearest police station.
