adminyesterday indicted to face trial at the High Court.
Abdul Talati of Ridgeview, Harare, and Mohammed Patel appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei facing three counts of fraud.
Prosecutor Mr Tapiwa Kasema asked the court to remand the pair in custody to September 11 when their trial will begin. They were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
The complainant in the matter is businesswoman Ms Effie Zituta.
It is the State’s case that between September 13, and 22 in 2008 at CBZ Bank Kwame Nkrumah Branch the pair misrepresented to Ms Zituta that Merchant House Building, House No 37 Anson Drive, Ridgeview and Triumph Investments along Mbuya Nehanda Street, Harare were on sale.
The State says the two knew that the properties in question were not on sale and were out to defraud the woman. It is further alleged that Ms Zituta paid Z$69 billion for the property in Ridgeview, Z$234 billion for Merchant House Building and a further Z$172,5 billion for Triumph Investments. But after paying the money, the State says Zituta was never given ownership of the properties in question, as they were not for sale.
