THE Ministry of Health and Child Care has received the first consignment of equipment and medicines donated to Zimbabwe by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This comes after the UAE pledged to continue assisting Zimbabwe with developmental and humanitarian aid as the country works on economic revival.
Of the donated goods whose value was not disclosed, were dialysis machines, incubators and respiratory aid devices.
The Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Obadiah Moyo, received the donation last week and expressed gratitude for the continued support.
“We have received the first consignment of the donated equipment and medicines from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These include five dialysis machines, six vital signs monitors and eight respiratory aid devices,” he said in a statement.
“We also got 12 multi-parameter monitors and 12 new born intensive care unit incubators for our public health institutions.”
The UAE was among the donors to respond to the Government following the Cyclone Idai disaster that killed hundreds of people and ravaged infrastructure particularly in the eastern parts of the country.
“The equipment was donated following a request by President ED Mnangagwa during a visit to Abu Dhabi early this year. While the initial request was made towards Cyclone Idai, further interventions saw the UAE broadening the scope of its support to cover capital requirements for health delivery,” said the Minister.—@thamamoe
