THE United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government has announced its commitment to ongoing humanitarian efforts in Zimbabwe, stressing initiatives that enhance lives across key sectors such as food, healthcare and education.
This pronouncement comes as the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works, in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Harare, distributed mealie meal in Matetsi communal area in Matabeleland North.
The food aid is meant to support low-income families and improve food security in regions impacted by low agricultural output occasioned by the impact of climate change and droughts.
UAE representative in Zimbabwe Ambassador Jassim Mohammed Al Qasemi said the food aid is a reflection of the UAE’s humanitarian values and commitment to supporting friendly nations.
Ambassador Al Qasemi noted that the maize meal distribution underscores the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Zimbabwe, rooted in cooperation and solidarity.
“As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts in the Republic of Zimbabwe, the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works, in coordination with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Harare, has distributed six tonnes of mealie meal in Matetsi communal area,” said Ambassador AI Qasemi in a statement.
“With the support of Emirati humanitarian institutions, we will continue to implement impactful initiatives that improve lives across key sectors such as food, healthcare and education,” said Ambassador AI Qasemi.
Local authorities and beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the UAE for the timely assistance saying this gesture of humanitarian aid exemplifies the spirit of friendship between the two countries.
This marks the second batch of food aid delivered this year by the UAE, part of a sustained relief effort to expand food support in Zimbabwe’s most vulnerable communities.
