AT least 2600 students are now having their tuition fees paid by the Office of the Presidential Envoy and Ambassador-at-Large to the Americas and Europe, Uebert Angel.
The OPEAAL Mnangagwa Scholarship fund’s initiative is to pay tuition fees for, at least, 10 000 students at universities and colleges.
“Ambassador Angel sponsors from his own pocket, without recourse to public or Government funds, and the scholarship fund was founded in honour of His Excellency President Mnangagwa,” Ambassador Angel said in a statement.
“It is built on the foundation of His Excellency President Mnangagwa’s principle to assist all Zimbabweans, regardless of their political affiliations.
“The initiative is aiming at paying tuition for 10 000 students at universities and colleges.
“Most Vice Chancellors and Polytechnic Principals have expressed their appreciation of this initiative after more than 2600 students have now benefited from the initiative.
“Those interested in this form of help can visit www.opeaal.co.zw or write an email to [email protected] explaining why you deserve such help.”
Authorities at the National University of Science and Technology, Belvedere Technical College and Harare Polytechnic have already paid tribute to Ambassador Angel for his helping hand.
When he visited NUST in Bulawayo in May, Ambassador Angel decided to pay the tuition fees for 50 students at the university.
There are now about 70 students, at the same university, under the same fund.
“The Office of the Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large (OPEAAL) has recorded over 1000 videos of students expressing their happiness from such an initiative,” the fund said in a statement.
“Ambassador Uebert Angel encourages students to work hard and start venturing into entrepreneurship before graduating.”
