A Gwanda-based Imbube outfit, Ufasimba The Home of Art, has released a song, “Khuzani Ulutsha” aimed at discouraging youth from drug and substance abuse.
One of the founders, Mthabisi Moyo, stated that their mission is to encourage young people to stay away from immoral behaviour.
“Through music and dance, we educate and entertain people, highlighting the dangers and consequences of drug and substance abuse,” said Moyo.
Their group was established in 2023 and consists of eight members specialising in the Imbube genre.
“We fell in love with this genre (Imbube) during our school years while watching Black Umfolosi, Imbizo, and Godlwayo,” Moyo said.
Additionally, they perform traditional and gospel songs and typically perform at state functions, weddings, funerals, and churches.
Moyo revealed that they have ambitious plans for the future, including touring the entire country and abroad, creating employment opportunities for the youth, and establishing their own studio to record their work.
However, they have faced several challenges.
“We have encountered various challenges, including a lack of regional support and sponsorship. We also need our own PA system to deliver quality performances. Another major challenge is securing finances for our mobility,” he explained.
