THE much-touted Uhuru Festival cancellation at the last minute denied some local musicians and Club DJs their debut show.
Local artistes had been lined up for the event, with small artistes anxiously waiting to make a debut show alongside South Africa Kwaito king Professor and Dr Malinga in shutting down the 2018 edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
Gwanda-based house artiste Zhezhingtons who is fast rising in the music industry, having been nominated in the inaugural Skyz Metro FM awards last year for Best Music Sound production through his song Siyagiya, was also billed to perform at the Uhuru festival.
Bulawayo-based DJs, the likes of Lady Dee, Dj Sweeto, Teflon, Mzoe, Nash Abra, CrackDat and Vasco were waiting for the opportunity to please the Kalawa Jazmee crew and who knows what would have been next for their careers.
If Professor had come, he was expected to perform his new single which is a hit in nightclubs around the city. The show which was largely a kwaito-house affair from the line-up, aimed at opening doors for local artistes by performing for large crowds lured by international recognised artistes Professor and nationwide recognised artistes that include rhumba sensational Madlela Skhobokhobo, Bulawayo hip-hop star Cal_Vin, ExQ, Tytan among others.
Organisers of the show had earlier on highlighted that the show was set to open doors for small artistes and be a breakthrough for them, but all that turned into a dream.
