CASTLE Lager Premiership new boys Green Fuel FC have given their technical department an ultimatum to produce at least six points in three matches or face the axe, Post Sport can reveal.
With the match against Shesham FC, which ended in a stalemate, being the first of the three matches, simple mathematics show that the Green Fuel technical department now have to beat their next two opponents — Ngezi Platinum (away) and Simba Bhora at home.
Green Fuel currently have Lloyd ‘Samaita’ Mutasa as the technical director while former Highlanders assistant coach Bekithemba Ndlovu is the head coach.
This set up came after an unexpected reshuffle of the technical department where Mutasa, who was initially the head coach after taking the team from the Eastern Region Division One to the Promised Land, was ‘elevated’ to technical director.
In a rather surprising move, Mutasa was eliminated by promotion as he was placed into a ceremonial role of technical director, leaving Ndlovu to take charge of the day to day main duties of coaching, including presiding over team selection, training sessions as well as game management.
However, it appears the move to reshuffle the technical department has not yielded the expected instant positive results and the as the 2023 season unfolds and the team continues dropping points on the trot, the leadership has new ideas.
A very reliable source privy to the goings-on at the club confided in Post Sport that Mutasa and Ndlovu could be on their way out if they fail to get six points from the next two matches.
“The club leadership is not happy that results have remained elusive even after the reshuffle. They have given the two (Mutasa and Ndlovu) a three match ultimatum to collect at least six points. Failure to do that they will be both shown the exit,” said the source who cannot be named due to issues of protocol.
Repeated efforts to get a comment from the club leadership were fruitless as the chairman Fredson Moyo’s mobile was constantly unreachable for the greater part of this week.
The Ethanol Boys have plunged into the turbulent waters of domestic Premiership football with a slender one nil defeat at the hands of Yadah Stars before they snatched a vital point out of a stalemate with Herentals FC.
The Chisumbanje based outfit went on to succumb to a 2-1 defeat in a Manicaland derby when they played against Manica Diamonds at Gibbo Stadium in Triangle.
In another match they have played in the top flight league, Green Fuel suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Hwange at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo.
Green Fuel then grabbed another point in last weekend’s round of league matches when they held fellow new boys Shesham.
