LOCAL comedians have vowed to crack Bulawayo comedy lovers’ ribs during the Umahlekisa Comedy nights at a local club, Da Flame.
The humorous youngsters will be taking the audience on a journey of laughter on the last Friday of each month.Ntandoyenkosi Van Moyo, the founder of the comedy nights, said the shows would start on January 31.
“Umahlekisa Comedy Nights was launched last year in March and local fans have been supporting us. A total of eight comedians will take to the stage in the coming months,” said Moyo.
The young comedians, namely Clive Chigubu, Keith Nkosi, Long John, Zwelibanzi “Zwekxy” Mackena, Libo HO’ Ntaka, Elando Marshall and Nomsa Diana Moyo are carving a niche in the city’s comedy scene.
Moyo said there are plans to invite regional comedians to add flair to the comedy nights. Before the comedians take to the stage, an open mic session would be held and budding ones will present their acts with the crowd acting as judges.
“We have identified a number of potential comics through the open mic sessions whom we groom,” he said.
Chigubu and Moyo have proved that they are in a league of their own, as they have left a trail of “cracked ribs” wherever they perform.
