THE Young Warriors resumed their preparations for the Cosafa Under-20 Youth Championships on Monday. Players had been released for the weekend Premier League games. The team is in camp in Zvishavane, getting ready for the tournament that will be held in Lesotho from 3-14 December.
The Young Warriors head coach Jairos Tapera said the squad resumed full training on Monday.
Youngsters that were released include Motor Action’s quartet of Wisdom Mutasa, Walter Musona, goalkeeper Donovan Bernard and Albert Kusemwa, Caps United’s duo of Ronald Pfumbidzayi and Tinotenda Muskwe and Hwange starlet Pritchard Mphelele.
Tapera bemoaned the knocks sustained by the players while representing their respective clubs.
Musona, Mphelele and Teenage Hadebe of Bantu Rovers are the most affected players.
“So far so good. Our preparations have been going on well as we have been working on the players’ technique as well as trying to factor in combinations. But on a sad note some players came back with knocks after the weekend games, we hope it’s not that bad,” he said.
Tapera said they need at least four to five training matches to get the players to blend.
There are two foreign-based players Willie Blazio Muzvimbiri who plays for Nico United in Botswana and United Kingdom-based Tafadzwa Kutinyu who turns out for Chesterfield in League Two.
Tapera said they will be leaving for Lesotho on Saturday with 20 players.
