THE Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is conducting a nationwide Joint Monitoring Exercise to examine the challenges faced by schools in enforcing protocols and measures to improve under-performing schools.
Director of communications and advocacy in the Ministry, Taungana Ndoro, said a multifaceted approach will be necessary to improve pass rates in such schools.
This, he said, included investing in teacher training and professional development programmes, providing ongoing support for teachers and enhancing the curriculum to make it more relevant and engaging.
The Government will also allocate adequate resources to schools to create a conducive learning environment and encourage the active involvement of parents and the community.
The resources include textbooks, teaching materials, science laboratories and technology as well as improving school infrastructure, such as classrooms, libraries and sanitation facilities.
“As a Ministry, we envisage to enhance our curriculum to ensure it is continuously relevant, engaging and aligned with educational goals.
“This is why we incorporate practical and hands-on learning experiences to make education more interactive and applicable to real-life situations.
“We also encourage active involvement of parents and the community in the education process as we ride on the established mechanisms for regular communication between schools and parents, and promote parental participation in school activities and decision-making processes.”
