Understanding God’s open doors

“AND to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens.

“I know your works. Look, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut’.” — Revelation 3:7-8

The Bible tells us that God holds the key of David, signifying His authority and power to open doors that no one else can.

He is the God who opens doors of opportunity, blessing and ministry.

He can open doors that seem locked, shut and impossible to open.

Jesus says: “I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.”

This promise extends beyond the church in Philadelphia; it is for every believer who is willing to trust and obey God.

The first and most important open door is the door of salvation.

Jesus declares: “I am the door; if anyone enters through me, he will be saved.” (John 10:9)

The door of salvation is open to everyone, regardless of their background, culture or past mistakes.

All we need to do is enter through Jesus, and we will be saved.

Today, we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He overcame death for our salvation.

The door to salvation is wide open, and everyone is invited to enter freely.1 Corinthians 16:9 reads: “For a great and effective door has opened to me and there are many adversaries.”

Paul is saying that God has opened a door of opportunity for him to minister, but there are also numerous challenges and adversaries. This holds true for every believer. When God opens a door of opportunity, challenges and obstacles will inevitably arise.

However, we must remember that God is greater than any obstacle and He will provide the strength and courage to overcome it.

God desires to bless us and open doors of blessings in our lives.

But we must remember that God’s blessings are not solely material or financial; they are also spiritual and relational. God wants to bless us with a deeper relationship with Him, along with peace, joy and contentment. As we reflect on the promise of open doors, we are reminded that God is the God of the impossible.

He can open doors that no human can shut. He can open doors of salvation, opportunity and blessing.

Therefore, let us trust God to open doors in our lives.

Let us be willing to walk through those doors in obedience and faith.

Let us pray together: Lord, we thank You for being the God of open doors. We thank You for opening doors of salvation, opportunity and blessings in our lives.

We pray that You will continue to open doors for us. We also pray that you will grant us the strength and courage to walk through those doors. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
