GREETINGS, beloved nation, in the name of Jesus Christ. God ordained the times and seasons and expects us to understand them in order to know what we are supposed to be doing in each season.
As nations of the world and as individuals, we are in a difficult season, marked by uncertainty due to the problems we are facing.
It is important that, as believers, we have an understanding of the times and seasons and remain spiritually alert so that we can navigate our way through such seasons.
In Daniel 2:21, the Bible says that “God changes the times and the seasons . . .” If God ordains and changes the times and seasons, then it is necessary for us to seek Him to understand, which season we are currently in and what we ought to be doing in every season.
We need to understand that this has nothing to do with the natural seasons of summer, autumn, winter and spring, but relates entirely to spiritual seasons within God’s pre-determined calendar for each individual and for the body of Christ.
In 1 Chronicles 12:32, the Bible says that “the sons of Issachar had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do.”
This verse sheds more light on understanding the times and seasons. Among all the tribes of Israel, only one tribe was commended for understanding the times and knowing what Israel should do.
This indicates that without a deep understanding of the times and seasons, we will not know what we are supposed to do as individuals or as the body of Christ. To understand the times and seasons as believers, we must align ourselves properly to hear instructions from God, so He can guide us on the way we should go.
This requires us to discern and be spiritually alert. Spiritual discernment cannot be attained through education alone. To develop spiritual discernment, we must know the authentic so well that when something false appears, we can recognise it.
For example, bank tellers are trained to distinguish genuine from counterfeit money by first becoming thoroughly familiar with genuine bills.
The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 that “the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God,” and that “no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.” This means that the Holy Spirit enables us to discern.
In the book of Daniel, we learn about a man named Daniel, who was very prayerful and had a close relationship with God. Because of this, he was shown the secrets of the end times.
In the season we are living in, God is bringing order to His church. He desires to reposition us in preparation for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
There has been much compromise within the body of Christ — scandals in churches, false prophets fighting for power and positions, sexual immorality and rebellion.
In a move that will usher in a great revival, God is bringing order to the church. He is cleansing His bride of all filth because He is coming for a spotless church.
Therefore, we must be spiritually sensitive and have a deeper understanding of the times and seasons, so we are not caught unaware, like the five foolish virgins in Matthew 25.
There is a call for repentance and holiness within the body of Christ so that revival can be ushered in. We need to heed God’s instructions to repent and pursue holiness.
God is a God of secrets, and to understand the times and seasons, we must develop an intimate relationship with Him so that He can reveal His hidden secrets to us.
The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 29:29 that “the secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
This means that there are certain secrets God wants to reveal to us. God is looking for people He can trust with His secrets, but He can only do so for those who draw near to Him and press after Him.
Even in daily life, when a friend wants to share a secret, they won’t shout it from the rooftops or in a crowded street. They draw close and whisper it into your ear. The same applies to God — we must draw closer to Him for Him to reveal His secrets and help us understand the times and seasons so we can align ourselves properly.
When God wants to usher us into a new season, our role is to position ourselves to allow the Holy Spirit to lead and direct our paths. As Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord.”
I invite you now to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you shall be saved.
May God bless you all and this beautiful nation of Zimbabwe. Amen.
