applications in the fields of creative writing, music and visual arts.
Residences will be provided by 16 cultural institutions in 10 countries.
The institutions have signed Memoranda of Understanding with Unesco to provide residences and all the necessary support for young artistes to work to continue with their creativity and to participate in activities organised by the institutions. It also offers the artistes broad exposure to other artistes and the creative environment in the respective countries. Young artistes who intend to secure residences in the 16 institutions are expected to apply directly to particular institutions identified with their areas of interest.
These institutions will shortlist the applicants and recommend them to Unesco, which will in turn determine who among the applicants should be awarded bursaries that cover the cost of transport to and from the chosen institution. It will also include funds for upkeep and for meeting other expenditure during their stay at the institution. The following are institutions to which interested young artistes should apply and the deadlines for receipt of the applications:

l Virginia Centre for the Arts (United States of America) by October 31 2012;
l Musque Multi-Montreal (Canada) by November 30;
l Sacatar Foundation (Brazil) by November 1 and L’Espace Sobo Bade (Senegal) by November 30.
Creative Writing
l Camac (France) by October 15;
l Sacatar Foundation (Brazil) by October 15;
l Civitella Ranieri Centre (Italy) by November 15;
l Dar-Al-MaMun (Morocco) by November 20.
Visual Arts
l Brandon Trust (Australia) by November 5;
l Changdong National Art Studio (Republic of Korea) by October 15;
l Sacatar Foundation (Brazil) by October 15;
l Camac (France) by October 15;
l UNIDEE-Cittallarte (Italy) by November 15;
