Unicem crowned Mat South Heroes Champions

ZIFA Matabeleland South Province team Unicem were crowned the regional 2014 Heroes Champions after walloping Gwanda Prison FC 2-0 in a match played at Phelandaba Stadium in Gwanda on Tuesday.
Unicem scored through Malvin Dube in the first half and a late 85th second goal from youngster Mthabisi Sibanda. They won a brand new soccer kit and a trophy.

Unicem coach Allan Ncube said that he was impressed with his team’s performance.

“I am happy with the result and was impressed with the guys’ performance, they played very well,” said Ncube.

Ward Nine Councillor Thabani Moyo, who sponsored the tournament with two football uniforms and the trophy through his Tee and Pee General Dealers’ chain of shops, said he enjoyed the match and promised to continue sponsoring the tournament annually.

“I enjoyed the match very much and I was impressed with the level of talent that was showcased by the two teams. I will make sure that I do my level best to continue sponsoring the tournament,” said Moyo.

Mishon Tshabalaka, the Zifa provincial administrator said everything was handled well and they had a very competitive tournament.
“Everything went as planned and we got to see one of the most exciting and competitive finals in Gwanda,” said Tshabalaka.

Craig Vika the chairperson of Prison FC conceded defeat.

“Football is a game of luck and strategy and it’s unfortunate our strategy didn’t work today.

“Our biggest undoing was the intensity of the match which we failed to cope with. By the time we crawled into the match, the damage had already been done,” said Vika.
