The 88-year-old Kaunda, who was speaking when he arrived in Ethiopia for the 19th Africa Union (AU) summit, said while being united, the continent should avoid exploitation of one man by another.
He is at the AU summit as one of the champions in the fight against HIV and Aids. He has been invited to attend the summit by a forum for former Heads of State and Government chaired by former president of Mozambique Joachim Chissano and will also participate in discussions on the fight against HIV and Aids, according to the Times of Zambia.
After attending the AU summit, Kaunda is expected to attend another meeting in the United States under the auspices of the Champions of HIV and Aids Free Generation composed of former presidents.
Since retiring from politics, Kaunda has been engaged in the fight against HIV and Aids through his Kenneth Kaunda Children of Africa Foundation. Kaunda shocked Zambians in the late 1980s when he confessed on state television that one of his sons died of HIV and Aids. — Xinhua.
