United fully behind Ole

LONDON. — Manchester United are fully behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and have no intention of sacking him.

Manchester United bosses have no intention of replacing Solskjaer as manager this season and remain “happy’’ with the direction the club are heading in.

The Red Devils have slipped two points behind English Premier League leaders Chelsea and out of the Carabao Cup following a positive start to the season, and were seconds from having just one point from their opening two Champions League outings.

Having drawn with Everton last time out after Solskjaer dropped Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench, the Norwegian has been put under more pressure than he might be comfortable with at Old Trafford.

However, there appears to be plenty of confidence in the former Cardiff boss and his chances of winning major silverware ahead of the upcoming international break.

The Red Devils manager has had a tricky few weeks after a draw at home to Everton at the weekend.

His side also lost against Aston Villa the week before last and struggled at home to Villarreal in the Champions League before winning in the last minute.

But despite growing frustrations among fans and calls for him to be axed, United are backing their boss.

SunSport understands the Old Trafford hierarchy are happy with the direction he is steering the club in.

United see him as a long-term project, and are fully behind what he is trying to create as they fight for the Premier League title.

It comes just a day after Sir Alex Ferguson was caught criticising his team selection for not starting Cristiano Ronaldo against Everton.

Solskjaer has been given cash in the transfer market, including the signing of Ronaldo.

The Red Devils splashed out £73m on Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and £41m on Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

And the next 10 games will have a huge impact on United’s season, with a horror run of matches.

They face Leicester after the international break followed by Atalanta in the Champions League.

Then they have Liverpool, Tottenham, Atalanta, Manchester City all in a row before Chelsea and Arsenal at the end of November.

Solskjaer said after their most recent slip-up: “The mindset is good, the players are hungry to improve. Every game is a big game at Man United, so it’s a big month.

“It has been a big month.

“Lots of changes have happened at the club in the last month, so we’ve just got to be focused, make sure we use the international break well, us as coaches, who stay at home.

“The other ones who go away with their national teams come back with energy again, clear focus, good mindset and do well.

“But the mindset is good, the players are hungry to improve and today we dominated the game, we just couldn’t get that second goal that you need in games like this because Everton, as we knew from last season, can score a goal from nowhere.”— The Sun.
