THE Harare Central District  of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) held an anti-drugs awareness campaign in Mufakose over the weekend.

UMYF president, Kudakwashe Kasirori, said young people were the worst affected by drug abuse.

“The main reason for the campaign is to raise awareness against drugs and substance abuse to the youths in Mufakose and other residents.

“We managed to teach the youths about the dangers of drugs and substance abuse, and we hope to create a drug free society and continue to offer possible solutions to reduce and end drug abuse.

“Soon we will be carrying out a campaign on the effects of social media on the mental health of young people and the continuation of the drugs and substance abuse campaign until there is zero tolerance to drugs,” she said.

Various anti-drugs campaigns have been held recently, and stiffer sentences are being passed on anyone caught in possession of dangerous drugs.
