EMGANWINI Celtics, a Bulawayo Social Soccer League (BSSL) outfit, received a shot in the arm after a United States-based benefactor donated a full kit for the 2021 season.
Football is expected to resume in January, starting with the Premier Soccer League and gradually cascading down to lower leagues if the authorities are satisfied that soccer matches will not trigger the spread of coronavirus.
Persuadance Mutsago, who over the last four years has been assisting Emganwini Celtics since relocating to the United States, gave the team something to smile about when he presented the kit in Emganwini suburb over the weekend.
“We all have a duty to assist our communities in any way we can and for me, Emganwini Celtics is close to my heart because the team unites the people of this suburb through football.
“I have been assisting the club for a while now and as a young man who grew up in this community I’m proud to play my part in landing a helping hand to a project that belongs to the community of Emganwini suburb,” said Mutsago.
The BSSL is one of the biggest social soccer groupings in the country that boasts of an affiliation base of over 50 teams.
If given the go-ahead to resume football activities, BSSL have indicated that they intend to expand and spice things up with a new format, which is meant to ease fixture load on teams.
The teams will be clustered into three Pools, with Pool A consisting of 20 teams while Pool B and C will have 18 teams apiece.
