THE Bulawayo Basketball Association (BBA) is set to host a Unity Day tournament at Eveline Girls High School tomorrow.

Designed as a developmental event, the competition will see teams using their B and C league sides.

“The B and C leagues are designed for player development which is why we have decided to make this tournament about them. In order for these guys to grow they need such exposure.

“We are happy to be part of the development of basketball among young people.

“We hope this weekend will be filled with fun and lots of exciting action,” BBA secretary general Francis Dube said.

Teams set to take part are Highlanders Cornets, City Royals Gwanda Rebels, Highlanders B, Mavericks B, Lakers Supermed, Titans and Imbizo Celtics.

League action has taken a Christmas break paving way for this tournament.

The BBA league saw an increased number of teams for this campaign.

New teams set to join the Bulawayo Basketball League this season will include MSU from Midlands, Gwanda Rebels, Golden State, Bulawayo City Towers, Ostrich, Catch Them Young and CBC.

The new members are joining the assembly and will also get a vote on the BBA council. — @innocentskizoe.
