Local company Southern Region Trading has clinched a deal to supply software for the digital business licensing platform for Harare City Council. Univern Enterprises trading as Southern Region Trading Company submitted its proposal to partner City of Harare and the deal received the full backing of a council meeting held recently.The deal is part of the Harare City Council’s efforts to roll out electronic payment platforms as it seeks to plug financial leakages that have been associated with its past billing systems.
“Univern Enterprises trading as Southern Region Trading Company submitted its proposal to partner City of Harare in the project where it would provide the software for the electronic digital shop licence billing system.
“City of Harare interrogated the proposal and came up with a draft memorandum of agreement which has its own counter proposals. After negotiations and deliberating, the parties came up with a final draft of memorandum of agreement ready for signing,” said Director of Health Services for City of Harare Dr Prosper Chonzi.
The parties agreed that the commission due to Southern Region Trading Company for the services provided under the project shall be 5 percent of the actual collections made for the first $5 million and 8 percent of the actual collections made above the $5 million payable on a monthly basis and shall be collected by Southern Region Trading Company through the system on a monthly basis.
As part of the engagement, Southern Region Trading Company offered to give the City Council, 10 computers, 10 scanners, 50 mobile devices, wide area network connectivity, secure online server hosting, six Nissan NP200 pick-ups, system design data migration and data take on deployment of hardware, trailing of all system users, maintenance and replacement of equipment and access to 24 hour call centre facility free of charge to Council.
