University Awards

Chinhoyi University of Technology has won a number of awards over the years. These are very important in building sustainable brand value within the higher education sector. Awards considerably change the rankings of universities and CUT has won national and international awards that help enhance the CUT brand image.

Here are some of the notable awards the University has won over the years: The Jairos Jiri Humanitarian Award (2020); Small to Medium Enterprises Expo Winner (2020, 2021, 2022); Best Educational and Training Institute contributing to agriculture and circumvention of Covid-19 category (2020).

Best Education and Training Institution (Mash West Agric Show) (2010-2023); the Great Limpopo Cultural Trade Fair held at Mhlanguleni Cultural Village in Chiredzi (2022), CUT scooped a Community Merit Award bronze award at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (2023); and Chinhoyi University of Technology School of Hospitality and Tourism (2022) Sanganai Travel Expo.

Chinhoyi University of Technology scooped a whopping seven prizes and becoming the Overall First Runner-up (Presidential Innovation Awards 2022), Chinhoyi University of Technology Creative Art student Chantel Chinyani was voted the Second Runner-up for her innovative Tanaka Boot; CUT came first in the Best Innovation in Environment for the University’s “Alternative Use of Slug for Construction Materials Project”; Best Innovation in Agriculture, the CUT Agro-Industrial Park beat all Agro-Industrial parks in other Universities and the University won a Trophy and USD5000.

The Acting Pro Vice Chancellor for Business Development and Resource Mobilisation Dr Fungai Chatiza was rewarded for her innovation project that has taken the country by storm, the “Biotechnology and Advanced Cattle Reproductive Technologies (Cattle Breeding)”.

She walked away with a trophy and US$2 000.

In the Best Collaborative Research/Innovation undertaken by Industry and Academia, CUT and Zimplats were voted the Second Runner-Up for their Project entitled “Alternative Use of Slug for Construction Materials” and were awarded a shield and USD2000; Best Collaboration Project among Institutions, CUT and The National TransTech Solutions Centre for the National Number Project won a trophy and USD35 000; Best Innovating University category, CUT was the First Runner-Up; University was judged as the First Runner-Up in the Presidential Innovation of the Year Award category.

The award carried a trophy and a prize money of US$30 000; and the Best Overall Stand by An Educational Institution at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (2023).
