IN the heart of the picturesque landscapes of Insiza South, a visionary leader, Cde Spare Sithole, is on a mission to redefine the course of rural development. As an aspiring Member of Parliament for the region and the current incumbent, he is resolute in his commitment to spearheading a transformation that empowers the community, closing the gap between rural and urban, and paving the way for an enlightened and self-sufficient future.

One of Cde Sithole’s primary development pillars is the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in rural areas. Recognising the potential of technology to bridge knowledge gaps and boost economic growth, he envisions a world where every rural child has access to quality education. For this, he aims to provide computers connected to the internet, ensuring a wealth of information and learning opportunities are at the students’ fingertips. By embracing digital literacy, these young minds can unlock their full potential, securing brighter futures with access to jobs and scholarships.

“We shouldn’t only focus on building schools but we must also focus on the quality of education for our rural children. Our children can only access quality education if they have access to ICTs. Here I’m talking about access to computers which are connected to the internet. I’m also talking about good network coverage which will ensure that these computers are connected to the internet. This will enable our children to have access to information that will be crucial to their learning process and also information that will empower them upon completing their education so that they can get jobs or bursaries,” he said.

But it doesn’t end there; Cde Sithole’s vision stretches far beyond the classroom. He envisions an interconnected community where even the villagers prosper from the digital revolution. From marketing local products online to fostering innovative business ideas, the power of ICTs shall infuse every aspect of rural life, empowering villagers and ensuring no one is left behind.

“When we develop ICT’s in the area we also want the entire community including parents to benefit from it. We want the villagers who are conducting various businesses to be able to market their products digitally. They can also use the internet to come up with new business ideas and ideas to develop their businesses,” he said.

In alignment with the Second Republic’s devolution focus, Cde Sithole passionately believes that every region, no matter how remote, should thrive with sustainable socio-economic projects. Guided by the National Development Strategy (NDS1), he aims to uplift Insiza South by fostering diverse industries, agriculture, water resources, housing, and education.

These initiatives, which are cornerstones of Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, promise to pave the way for a prosperous and self-sufficient nation.

Key to this transformation is the development of an efficient road network. Cde Sithole has already made remarkable strides, with the tarring of the vital West Nicholson-Mberengwa Road underway. By enhancing trade links between Matabeleland and Midlands, this road will be a catalyst for economic growth, opening up new opportunities for prosperity.

Such infrastructure projects underscore his unwavering dedication to the progress of his region.

“Government under the leadership of President Mnangagwa has made significant progress in infrastructure development.

We are grateful that Government through DDF and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development came in to develop the road for tarring.

“A good road network is crucial in the development of a community and the entire nation. That is why Government has embarked on a massive road development programme across the entire country. I also share the same vision with Government and I will ensure there is significant road rehabilitation in my area,” said Cde Sithole.

Beyond infrastructure, Cde Sithole aims to harness the rich agricultural potential of Insiza South. The recently rehabilitated Silalatshani Irrigation Scheme, a hidden gem in the constituency, is poised to become a  source of bountiful sustenance. With Cde Sithole at the helm, this irrigation scheme shall flourish, turning the region into a vital food-producing hub.

The aspirations of Cde Sithole encompass all facets of community life, from health and education to bridges, electrification, and water supply. Driven by collaboration and unwavering determination, he seeks to galvanise the people of Insiza South to march together toward shared prosperity, leaving no room for poverty and dependency.

As the elections approach, Cde Sithole stands as a symbol of hope, progress, and a brighter tomorrow. His alignment with the Government’s development agenda and commitment to the Second Republic’s vision make him a formidable candidate for the future of Insiza South.

In him, he said, the constituency has a torchbearer, illuminating the path to rural prosperity. With Cde Sithole at the helm, Insiza South embarks on a journey that transcends geographical boundaries, unleashing the true potential of its people and paving the way for a thriving, interconnected Zimbabwe.–@DubeMatutu
