UPCOMING Afro jazz artist, Ba Tavo, says he will not give up despite the challenges he continues to face.
Born Luckson Matondo, 37 years ago, the crooner started his career during the Covid-19-induced lockdown.
He is set to launch an eight-track album, Mabwe Mashanu, on Thursday.
“I have faced many challenges since I started pursuing music, including financial problems, but I am not going to give up.
“I started writing songs during the Covid-19-induced lockdown.
“I wrote my first track titled Chengetai.
“Chengetai addresses the need for God to intervene and protect us from the deadly diseases which professionals in the health sector may fail to treat,” he said.
Other tracks on the album are Musikavanhu, Tigamuchire, Hwai, Vanangu, Zororai, Rudo and Kakata.
“Musikavanhu talks about what we wish for in comparison to what we get in real life, we invest in different things but some of what we want does not come to pass.
“Vanangu is fatherly advice to his kids to unite and overcome challenges together,” he said.
He said the track Musikavanhu features Carlos Green, Vanangu features Kudzi Nyakudya, while Tigamuchire features Obert Chari and Kakata features Sir Gono.
