AN upcoming reggae artiste, Kevin Gabida, is likely to burst into the arts mainstream following the release of his first album. Having rubbed shoulders with the likes of Jah Prayzah in one of his hit songs “Ndosvika”, Kevin Gabida a.k.a Culture Benz has been perfecting his music since 2004.
He has been using demo and mix tapes to reach out to his fans, while working on his first album.
The 26-year-old says his rise to stardom was becoming a reality as he was now enjoying air play from radio stations such as Star FM and Zi-FM, which was not the case before.
“I am getting there, radio stations are appreciating my music and the launch of my upcoming album ‘Marongero’ is going to be a springboard to my music career,” said Culture Benz.
One of his videos, “Pandichazokora”, is already receiving rave reviews on the local television station ZBCTV. Other eye-catching videos by Culture include “Mapapiro Erudo” and “Ticharamba Tichiriser”, an inspirational video that features sport personalities Cliff Sekete and Partson Jaure.
Culture Benz’s music video producer Tamuka T. Hove a.k.a “Chillofishoe” said Culture’s videos were an inspiration to the ghetto youths, saying they were meant to uplift the youngsters and urge them to refrain from abusing drugs and alcohol.
One of his hit songs, “Marongero”, scooped the number one place on Messenger Oliman’s gospel show on Star FM.
“Culture’s music has matured as evidenced by his eye-catching videos that we are currently working on.
“The videos are an inspiration to ghetto youths and the message they relay is that of hope.
“The artiste has a passion for everything he does as attested by his musical project that has done better than expected,” said “Chillofishore”.
Culture Benz paid tribute to his part-time manager, Mother Filda, for assisting him in shaping his musical career.
