THE Government has contracted ZADA Construction to upgrade Murehwa-Madacheche Road, which connects Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe district in Mashonaland East province and Rushinga district in Mashonaland Central province.

Already, the contractor has completed road clearings.

Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo today toured the road to have an appreciation of the road works being carried out.

Adv Ndudzo commended the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa for the development.

“We want to thank the leadership of President Mnangagwa for the rapid pace on critical projects,” he said.

“We are here along Murehwa- Madacheche Road, at the Calvert construction site. As you know, from Mutawatawa Business Centre to Mazowe Bridge, there are about 65 kilometres and there is a stretch that needs to be surfaced.

“Work has now commenced in earnest and we are experiencing excellent progress on the first stretch of 8,8 km where the road construction is ongoing.

“Work is on schedule. Before the end of 2025, we would have completed the first 8,8 km stretch and work on the remaining stretch will commence.”

Adv Ndudzo thanked President Mnangagwa for his astute leadership, saying his administration has brought about development, which is transforming people’s livelihoods.
