A HARARE woman dragged her estranged husband to court seeking an upward variation in maintenance to $80 000.

Prior to that, Ellen Mandibaya was getting $26 000 from Jorge Mandibaya.

However, presiding magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Jorge to continue paying $26 000 plus an additional US$30.

“Their salaries were adjusted and I want him to give me something too.

“I have nine operations and am also asthmatic, so I can no longer work like before.

“I just want him to increase a little amount. He has abandoned me because I cannot have a child.

“I built the house where he is staying right now, and kicked me out,” she said.

But Jorge offered no increase.

“I cannot adjust from last month’s upward variation.

“I worked as a civil servant and now I am a pensioner.

“I hired someone to take care of me so l need money to pay her too.”
