New edu-channel
An exciting educational channel, Channel ED has been launched by MultiChoice Africa some weeks ago and is supporting learners in different parts of Africa.
Channel ED airs on DStv channel 318, gives subscribers access to an exciting knowledge portal of both global high-end documentaries and new locally-produced content.
Learning has never been this exciting with scholars being spoilt for choice through physics, finance, culture, chemistry, the natural and the supernatural material.
What better way to keep a person’s mind interactive, vibrant and in an arena of innovations and discovery.
The channel broadcast six hours of new content every week day, including documentaries, short form material and presenter-driven programs.
“Channel ED is about expanding the world’s knowledge on Africa through knowledge sharing thereby changing perceptions of Africa for the better,” said a representative from Channel ED.

Teens that are out and about
Recently elected Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa (RETOSA) Junior Tourism Ministers are taking up their regional seats this month.
Taloshili Olavi Hangula (15) of Namibia, the Southern Africa Junior Tourism Minister, Tsholofelo Tsheto (12) of Botswana who is the Deputy Minister will officially be unveiled as they year long term begins.
“This is a big chance for them to participate and input into the regional agenda on tourism development in Southern Africa. We are paying special attention on how the youth can play a meaningful role in the region,” said Retosa in a statement.
The regional ministers’ main duty is to reach out and motivate every school children aged between seven and seventeen to join the Youth in Tourism band wagon.
Social media is going to come in handy as they are going to use platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and the Retosa blog to communicate directly with their peers.
These networks will enable open interactions and debates on sustainable tourism. For the first time ever, youths in Southern Africa will join hands and contribute to the development of our tourism.
“The Junior Tourism Minister will develop a forum and interact with students at secondary school level while the Deputy concentrates on learners in primary school,” said Retosa. The ministers were selected after coming out tops in an essay competition that was open to all SADC students.
A number of events have now been lined up for the year and they include the second edition of Glamour Magazine Youth in Tourism Essay Competition 2014, Youth in Tourism Arts Festival and Conference, edutainment events and so much more.
