It’s the weekend and as usual, we have your back on what is buzzing in the world of urban teens.
Our swag is in check even though winter is in full swing.
Miss Zimbabwe is on tonight and as always, we have our money on teen finalists.
All hail her majesty Miss Harare Junior Yolanda Chimbarami (16) who is in the running together with Letwin Chinomona (19), Desiree Zhuwakinyu (19) and Catherine Makaya (19).
The teen population has its weight behind y’all and we wish them the best.
We would be delighted that these stunners bring it home.
Still on other things equally beautiful, we take a look at the trends that are a hit in the streets.
Thumbs up to all those keeping it real and not burying themselves in tonnes of clothing. I get that it’s cold but that is no excuse for dressing like old people.
Enough said, here is a list of the accessories that made our list of “must haves” this winter.
Hats
City hunter hats for guys – These are not only super stylish but they go a long way in warming up your ears and the better part of your face. While they are a big hit in cold countries, I find woollen city hunters rather lame.
Other lame hats include fake label bennies that are normally sold on boxes in the streets.
Gloves
Rihanna made gym gloves THE fashion accessory of the century. Well both girls and guys can add glam to the winter wardrobe with these cute gloves. Note that gloves look good even if they are woollen. They also give a person that funky, cool gangster look. You can get away with having your granny to make them for you. *winks*
Take the entire funk to school by looking for these accessories in your school or college colours.
Winter hint
We are aware that because of the low temperatures, many of you are not big on waking up, let alone take baths in the morning.
I hate to break it to you but there is no better way to start off the day. To be efficient you need to freshen up and take that bath before you rock your winter wear.
This helps to emotionally prepare you for the day and the sooner you stop dreading the sooner you make progress.
Speaking of keeping up with winter here are a few tips you can consider to help your body to get by.
1. Hot chocolate in the morning
They help to keep you up and alert
2. Dark leafy greens
These greens are particularly rich in vitamins A, C and K.
3. Potatoes
They are an excellent source of two immunity boosters -vitamins C and B6
4. Butternuts
5. Citrus fruits
These are loaded with vitamin C
Don’t forget to do a lot of sports to keep colds at bay.
If you are too lazy for that they get cozy with your friends at various indoor hang outs like movie theatres, restaurants and community centres.
