US can’t stop Iran-Russia ties, says envoy

TEHRAN.  – Russia’s Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan says Washington cannot hinder Tehran-Moscow relations despite the US-led bans imposed against the Islamic Republic.
The United States is worried about the fact that Russia is seeking to find a mechanism to boost its trade with Iran amid the illegal bans against Tehran, Dzhagaryan told Fars news agency yesterday.

Dzhagaryan further stressed that no parties, even the US, can hamper Tehran-Moscow co-operation, which is in the interest of both sides.

The Russian envoy to Tehran also praised the high level of political relations between Iran and Russia, saying the two neighbouring countries have common ground on some regional issues.

Dzhagaryan stated, however, that Moscow was not satisfied with the current level of economic ties between Iran and Russia, which has witnessed a decline due to the illegal anti-Iran sanctions.

Elsewhere in his comments, the Russian official described Iran as a leading medicine producer, expressing Russia’s willingness to import medicine from the Islamic Republic.

Iran-Russia trade currently totals US$5 billion a year, but economists say the two countries can at least quadruple the volume of their trade exchanges. – Press TV.
