The embargo, which has been consistently condemned by the United Nations General Assembly over the past 20 years, has cost Cuba more than US$5 million this year in lost revenue, a vital amount that could have been used to improve education, said Luisa Gonzalez, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education.
“We have problems with computer equipment for students to reinforce their education and right now we have some broken equipment and no parts available for repairs,” Gonzalez said.
Another common problem is that while the ministry guarantees all the children basic study materials, the raw materials are not of good quality, she added. — Xinhua.
