US$100bn roadshow on cards

The initiative came to life at the third edition of the KMFS CEO Africa Roundtable earlier this year.

On that occasion, Government and business made a formal agreement for a collective drive towards achieving the goal.
During the same meeting, sectoral committees were set up to come up with proposals on how business would complement Government to reach the economic target.

KMFS chief executive Mr Kenias Mafukidze said the Masvingo event, in the form of a breakfast meeting, would give business leaders in the province an opportunity to contribute to the drive.
“This Masvingo roadshow will the first of many countrywide business forums as the nation continues its journey towards the US$100 billion economy,” he said.

“The business leaders within and around Masvingo are being invited to take part in this forum, and share their visions and discuss the implications of the US$100 billion economy for the province of Masvingo.”
Guest speakers expected at the Masvingo meeting include Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Walter Muzembi, Masvingo Mayor Alderman Semias Chakabuda and KMFS business development manager Mr

Patridge Sibanda, among others.
The Zimbabwean economy has the potential to achieve the US$100 billion target to the extent that it grows at a rate of 15 percent per annum over the next 20 years.

But this year, official projections for the economic growth are set at a minimum of 9 percent.
