President Mnangagwa has launched a US$300 000 revolving fund for Health Ambassadors for Economic Development and BoysDzamdara.
Both are organisations are Zanu PF affiliates.
Health Ambassadors for ED got US$200 000, with each province expected to get US$20 000.
Harare province was the first to receive its US$20 000 allocation, with other provinces expected to get theirs in the next few weeks.
BoysDzamdara are expected to receive their share in Bulawayo next week.
President Mnangagwa is also offering free First Aid Training through Discovery Ambulance Services, with over 100 000 people across the provinces benefiting from the scheme.
Discovery Ambulance Services is also offering free BP checks, free cancer screening and free medication and consultations as part of improving health services to the people.
Speaking at the launch of the revolving fund at the Zanu PF headquarters in Harare yesterday evening, Presidential Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara said the Presidential Empowerment Fund for Health Ambassadors for ED is a direct expression of President Mnangagwa’s faith in health workers and his determination to support their critical work.
The event was attended by health workers from the country’s 10 provinces.
Dr Tungwarara said the fund is designed to enhance the health workers’ capacity as they serve the nation.
“It is the President’s direct investment in the health of our nation delivered into your hands,” he said.
“President Mnangagwa demands that every dollar of this fund be used transparently, accountably, and solely for its intended purpose to empower your work and improve the health outcomes in the communities you serve.”
The empowerment scheme is a cornerstone of President Mnangagwa’s philosophy of direct community empowerment.
Dr Tungwarara said it is a practical step towards realising Vision 2030, under which every Zimbabwean should enjoy a higher quality of life, underpinned by accessible and quality healthcare.
Yesterday, hundreds of people received free first aid training, free BP checks, free cancer screening, free consultation and free medication at Friendship High School in Hatcliffe Extension, Harare from Discovery Ambulance Services.
Discovery Ambulance Services chief executive officer Mr David Munowenyu said they are supporting President Mnangagwa’s drive of taking quality health services to the people.
“More than 100 000 people across the country’s 10 provinces received training in First Aid. Our aim is to ensure every Zimbabwean has the capacity to do first aid.
“We want each and every Zimbabwean to be at least a primary health care worker. Someone who can do first aid in case of emergencies,” he said.
Zanu PF Deputy Secretary for Security Cde Tendai Chirau, who attended the outreach programme in Hatcliffe, said President Mnangagwa is now comprehensively addressing the health delivery system and other concerns related to the delivery of quality social services.
“President Mnangagwa consistently stresses that a robust healthcare system is a fundamental enabler of the country’s economic development and is vital for achieving overarching national goals, including Vision 2030,” said Cde Chirau.
BoysDzamdara chairman Cde Hopewell Chako appreciated President Mnangagwa’s initiatives, saying they will change the face of the health system.
Health Ambassadors for ED chairperson, Ms Cynthia Chisiri, also weighed in saying: “The President, as a listening leader, recognised our concerns and promised to address them.
“There has been a significant improvement in drug supplies across hospitals.”
Renovations are also underway at Parirenyatwa Hospital as part efforts to improve the health delivery.
