admininvestors to boost water output in the city. He said the city wanted to double the current water pumping and conveyance infrastructure to mitigate the effects of water shortages. The city, he said, had already identified private investors who wanted to inject money into the water project.
“We are currently involved in talks with private investors who want to pour their money into our water augmentation programme,” said Alderman Chakabuda.
“We are close to inking a deal with them and once the deal has been sealed work will start to upgrade the water pumping and conveyance infrastructure for our city.”
Alderman Chakabuda said the US$40 million would be used in the construction of new water pipelines, storage tanks and a new water intake tower at Lake Mutirikwi where the city draws its water.
The mayor said there were a number of investments that were waiting on the wings and would be unveiled once the water problem was resolved.
