A LINKVIEW family has been left counting huge loses after fire gutted their house last week and destroyed property worth US$5 200.
Police identified the complainant as Cynthia Mutsamba (36).
The inferno gutted the property while she was at work.
“On September 23, at around 7am, Mutsamba left her house for Waterview Primary School in Pegasus, Dangamvura. At around 11am, she received a call from her tenant, Bridget Shiridzinonwa (19) informing her that fire was coming out of her house,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
He said Shiridzinonwa allegedly heard a hissing sound before seeing flames.
“The tenant rushed to alert neighbours to call the Fire Brigade to put out the fire. The fire squad attended the scene. Mutsamba arrived home at around 11:30am and the fire had already been extinguished, but valuable property had been reduced to ashes,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
He cited some of the destroyed items as two gas tanks, gas stove, kitchen unit, plates and clothes. The roof of the house and windows panes have been burnt.
No one was injured in the fire incident.
