Primson Management Services, a development consultancy firm, will spearhead the programme.
It will focus on enhancing the capacity of the community based organisations working in the area of HIV and Aids in the region.
Officially launching the programme in Msasa recently, Primson Management Services executive director Dr Neddy Matshalaga said community based organisations are better positioned to deal with the spread of the disease.
“The project will enhance the capacity of community based organisations in good governance, compliance to the national priorities and innovative programmes.
“One of the objectives of the programme is to provide avenue for countries to share experiences and best practices.”
He said the National Aids Council will play a leading role in overseeing effective implementation.
The organisation will work at national level in partnership with Zimbabwe Aids Network and the National Aids Council.
Ten organisations have since been identified for the project and include Gweru Aids Prevention Association, Pakame Children’s Home, Scripture Union Midlands, National Council for the disabled Persons in Zimbabwe, Mary Mount Hospital, Lower Guruve Development Association, Mufudzi Wakanaka, Total Control of the Epidemic, Tony Waite Foundation and Chiedza Home of Hope.
Dr Matshalaga said: “The organisations have weak organisational leadership, unprocedural selection of board members and lack of transparency of board and directors.
“The programme will focus on strengthening board structures and governance systems.
“Primson will assist these organisations to develop result based and costed organisational strategies.”
