A Harare man who allegedly swindled a businessman of US$600 000 in a share-sale deal appeared in court on Monday facing fraud charges.
Paris Olympios (62) of number six Hague Close in Sentosa was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare Magistrate Mr Don Ndirowei who remanded him in custody to March 14.
Prosecutor Ms Memory Chidavaenzi alleges that around June 2009, Olympios told businessman Brian Justice Jembere that his mother was selling Harare Engines Reconditioners after his father passed away in 2008.
It is alleged that Jembere bought 50 percent shareholding from Olympios’ mother.
The other shares were shared between Olympios and his sister, the court heard.
Jembere allegedly paid US$600 000 but the share transfer was not conducted.
On February 11, it is alleged, Jembere received an e-mail from an estate agency indicating that the property was on the market.
Jembere lodged a police report, which led to Olympios’ arrest. – CR.
