The carnival would begin on May 21 and end on May 26 and is going to be co-hosted by the ZTA in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society. “Artistes will participate in the carnival and the spirit should grip the nation. A street party will be held to celebrate achievements as Zimbabweans during the carnival.
The idea was lauded by Vice-President Joice Mujuru three years ago and we have to celebrate that. We have freedom of worship in the country and we expect the private sector and Government to come in with assistance.
“Hopefully we will get a budget allocation next year since tourism has brought in between US$700 million and US$800 million so far. We are expecting at least 1 600 participants from 21 countries including Brazil and Nigeria,” Mr Kaseke said.
Minister of Media, Information and Publicity Cde Webster Shamu urged musicians to continue working hard as representatives of the country.
