Usher’s family friend under probe over jet-ski accident

Usher’s reportedly brain-dead stepson remains in hospital as officials released the name of the man who allegedly struck him with a jet-ski.
Family friend Jeffrey S. Hubbard of Atlanta is under investigation for the collision with the 11-year-old boy who was riding in an inner tube on Georgia’s Lake Lanier, an official told the NY Daily News.

“Basically, a pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them,” Sgt Mike Burgamy with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said. He said two of his rangers witnessed what appeared to be a tragic accident.

Alcohol was not a factor, and investigators do not believe it was a mechanical malfunction, he said.

Both young victims — the other being an unidentified 15-year-old girl — were wearing life jackets, he said.
