“UYAPHAPHA marn! Uyaquma wena!”
Amapiano just got a township comedy twist and Zimbabwe is in stitches!
The original viral track by DJ Maphorisa, Seun1401, Scotts Maphuma, Kabelo Sings, and TNK MusiQ has become the anthem of the streets. But leave it to Umahlekisa Comedy Club founder Ntando Van Moyo to flip the script with a Kasi comedy remix that’s taking over TikTok, WhatsApp statuses, and kombi speakers near you.
His version is pure art:
“Uyaphapha marn!
Uyaquma wena!
Awuthengi wena!
Uyatrumpetter marn!”
It’s the roast of every broke blesser wannabe; those guys who never bring money to the table but drink like they own the bar. And Moyo’s fans are loving it.
“Okunje so nikisi!” posted Facebook user Nyembezi Magwegwe Ndlovu, nearly choking on laughter.
“Sarendi!” screamed another, Stross Cyril, with emojis flying.
With his razor-sharp wit, streetwise timing, and total command of township lingo, Van Moyo is cooking up a new genre: Amapiano comedy fire. His style blends music, sarcasm, and everyday satire into one explosive package.
“I’ve always mixed music and comedy,” Ntando told B-Metro. “Scott Maphuma inspired this one. His lyrics are so random — it’s like he just says what’s on his mind. I thought, why not do the same . . . but with jokes that hit home?”
And hit they have. Ntando’s remix is now a digital earworm and his following is exploding.
Real. Raw. Relatable. That’s the secret sauce. Ntando Van Moyo doesn’t try too hard and that’s what makes him so damn funny.
He’s more than just a comic, he’s your cousin at the braai, your loud neighbour in the kombi, the guy who sees life and says it like it is.
So next time you hear a beat drop and someone shouting “Uyaphapha marn!” know that Van Moyo is somewhere out there, making the whole country laugh through the madness.
